Hike & Explore the Archaeological Digs at Cherokee Ranch Castle
Hike and explore the rich archeological history of Douglas County! Scientists at the Cherokee Ranch Institute have been excavating several sites here at the ranch. Learn about what they have found and hope to find in the future. You'll visit the excavation site on Cherokee Mountain and examine an ancient quarry where the natives were sculpting tools from local stone.

Moderate 2.5 mile hike, includes some steep off-trail paths. This hike is suitable for most people in good physical condition. We recommend good hiking shoes, and long pants.
