Bailey Hinkley Grogan is a Denver-based award winning jazz vocalist, composer, educator, and sound healer known for her emotionally rich performances that blend jazz, folk, soul, and pop influences. A professional performer since age seven, she holds a B.M. from Indiana University, an M.M. from Cal State Long Beach, and a D.M.A. in Studio Music & Jazz Voice from the University of Miami, where she was a Henry Mancini Institute Fellow where she worked under the direction of acclaimed composer, Maria Schneider. Her work explores the intersection of jazz and popular music, reimagining artists like Cher, Willie Nelson, and Pat Metheny through a jazz lens. With a bold and bebop-based improvisation style, she has captured audiences nationwide with her unique sound. She has shared the stage with Bobby McFerrin, Kurt Elling, and Janis Siegel, and her research highlights feminist and LGBTQIA+ narratives in jazz history. Grogan teaches jazz voice at the University of Northern Colorado, leads sound healing workshops, and released the albums Three Sides of a Story and Solstice, blending improvisation, storytelling, and sonic meditation. Her accolades include multiple DownBeat Student Music Awards and distinguished honors for creative achievement and vocal performance. Grogan’s artistry honors tradition while advancing equity, healing, and innovation in modern jazz.
