2ndSummit Walking Club takes on Sloan's Lake
Take a leisurely walk with fellow 2ndSummit members around Sloan's Lake, Denver's largest lake and one of its most beloved outdoor treasures. This easy 2.6-mile loop offers spectacular views of the Denver skyline, the Front Range, and—on a clear day—Longs Peak. Whether you're looking for great conversation, gentle exercise, or simply a beautiful way to spend a morning, this walk is the perfect combination of nature, history, and community.
Legend has it that in the 1860's, farmer Thomas Sloan accidentally created the lake after striking an underground aquifer while digging a well. Whether fact or folklore, Sloan's Lake quickly became one of Denver's favorite places for boating, swimming, and recreation.
Today, the lake is a haven for wildlife and one of the city's most scenic parks. Bring your walking shoes, enjoy the fresh air, and discover why Sloan's Lake has been a favorite gathering place for generations!

Good to Know
There are two parking lots adjacent to the new tennis courts on West 17th Avenue. You can park there or along the street. Let's meet in front of the courts. Ambassador Ned Sperry will be there to help organize. The walking path around the lake takes approximately an hour to complete, depending on your pace. (Those interested in coffee afterwards, can meet up at MoonFlower Coffee on Colfax and Raleigh.)
